We’re excited to share that the Neighborhood Dementia Support Initiative (NDS) is now the Neighborhood Aging and Dementia Support Initiative (NADS). Over the past year, NDS has supported our community through educational programs, memory cafes, respite opportunities, individualized guidance, and practical assistance for people living with memory loss and their caregivers. We’ve also raised awareness and helped foster greater inclusion in local and regional activities. As our work has expanded, we’ve recognized the broader needs of older adults. In addition to supporting those affected by memory loss, we are now addressing a wider range of aging-related concerns — including physical and mental health, social isolation, mobility challenges, caregiving support, and overall wellness. Our new name reflects this broader mission. We remain committed to helping older adults age in place with dignity and access the support they need.

A series of cabin fever relieving meetups at the cozy Deja Brew pub in Wendell have been scheduled again. Dates of VN meetups are: January 30 February 13, February 27 March 13 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM The pub is open to the public on Friday evenings from 6 to 11pm, but owner Patti Scutari will open early for Village Neighbors members, volunteers and interested friends from 4 to 6 to enjoy drinks from Audrey at the bar. Free snacks will be provided by Village Neighbors. This is a group for folks to get together and talk about whatever is on their minds. It will meet over zoom. You can drop in once in a while, or show up every time--your choice! The first meeting will be at 2pm on Monday, August 25th. If thistime doesn‘t work for you, but you want to be able to attend, let me know what your schedule is like. I am hoping to be able find a way to include as many people as possible. If you want to let us know you‘re coming, and receive a reminder email the day before, let me know by sending a message to membership@villageneighbors.org. Or, you can just show up and surprise us! Either way, we‘ll be happy to see you.
