We’re so glad you are interested in becoming a volunteer. You will find that joining and volunteering are both easy.
Folks under 60 or those over 60 from the participating towns of Leverett, New Salem, Shutesbury, or Wendell are welcome to become volunteers. There are different ways to volunteer for Village Neighbors. One volunteer may be able to offer a ride, another to make a daily check-in phone call to a homebound elder, another may make a meal or two for someone getting home from the hospital after a surgery or to set up an electronic gadget. Some people may want to become a Service Provider and others may want to volunteer for the operational jobs of Village Neighbors. Each volunteer chooses what they can offer and when they are available.
What we do
As an all-volunteer organization, we are committed to ensuring that the work we do is meaningful. Our volunteers make a difference in the lives of our members by providing transportation, handyman services – including installing air conditioners, hanging pictures, moving deck furniture and the like, friendly visits, and computer help. As volunteers we are helping our neighbors, seniors in our communities, to remain at home. At the same time, we are creating connections and friendships with these people.
